What exactly is an FSSAI license?

Any food-related business must be registered with FSSAI. It is essentially a 14-digit number that you are given and must utilize. These permits differ based on the size of the operations carried out by a company. Here is the classification you must adhere to:

  • FSSAI Basic Registration is intended for small enterprises with a revenue of less than 12 lakh rupees. It is computed on a yearly basis.
  • FSSAI State License – This license is for enterprises with yearly revenue of more than 12 lakh rupees but less than 20 crore rupees.
  • FSSAI Central License – is for enterprises with yearly revenue of more than 20 crore rupees or those who want to be involved in food safety.

What is the procedure for obtaining an FSSAI license?

The Food Licensing and Registration System is an internet program developed by the FSSAI (FLRS)

FLRS allows you to check your eligibility for the license and apply for it online. Furthermore, it provides automated reminders to entrepreneurs via SMS or email to ensure that their registration and license are renewed on time.

To apply for the license, you must first complete the following steps:

Visit the Fssai portal to determine your eligibility for registration or a state/central license.

Fill out the sign-up form for the criterion you’ve chosen, then activate your account.

Sign in to your account and begin filling out the application form. Check that you have all of the documents required for the criteria you’ve chosen. We’ll continue to share the list on this blog.

Submit your application and print a copy. You will be given a reference number that will allow you to track the status of your application.

Following receipt of the application, the authorities will review it and conduct an inspection. If the inspector is satisfied, he or she will transmit the report to the appropriate authority, and the license will be issued. This process could take up to 60 days.
