The benefits of white clay for the hair

Active ingredient that respects sensitive skin, kaolin or white clay also takes care of the hair. Discover its virtues with Abi Weeds, director of the organic cosmetics brand Odylique.
Like the epidermis, all hair types can benefit from the benefits of white clay. Kaolin contributes to the balance of the scalp. It purifies the greasy hair without neglecting the dry, dull and devitalized hair: kaolinite powder gives them back vigor and radiance thanks to the minerals that compose it (calcium, potassium, zinc, magnesium, silica). In addition to caring for our mane, white clay is an eco-friendly asset. “White clay, in its purest form, is a perfectly natural, non-polluting product”, explains Abi Weeds, director of the organic cosmetics brand Odylique.
In terms of use, mineral powder develops its full potential when used in masks, such as for the face, advises our expert. On the other hand, people who have eczema or psoriasis on the scalp will refrain from clay masks in favor of specialized shampoos and treatments.
The right care for hair with white clay
The most creative can imagine different treatments with white clay, by sliding it in its usual shampoo (or home made) or in a hair mask. “As for the facial treatment, start by personalizing your treatment! Recommends Abi Weeds. For example, mix the clay (to choose of high purity) with a shampoo of very good quality in order to be able to let stand the time of the shower You can also mix the powder with good quality natural ingredients for a mask with longer and more effective exposure. You can mix a few tablespoons of clay with lukewarm water and combine it with the choice of drops of vegetable oils (HV) of your choice (adapted to your type of hair, for example jojoba for oily scalps, Castor oil, sweet almond or shea to nourish dry hair, avocado for dull hair) or evenessential oils (for example bergamot, grapefruit, lemon to regulate excess sebum in oily hair), provided you are familiar with their use (to be avoided if you are pregnant or breastfeeding).
